Rosacea
Although it is considered a form of acne, Rosacea's presentation with redness and swelling of the cheeks, nose and sometimes chin, is similar to flushing of the face seen on some people as a response to stressful situations, hot climate, hot drinks, spicy foods and alcohol. It may also be a localised reaction to a cream or chemical such as make up or sun lotion. The flush of Rosacea is associated with the same nervous response chemicals commonly seen in cases of heartburn and gastrointestinal symptoms of indigestion.
Conventional treatment with topical and systemic antibiotics an steroids often leads to liver damage and long term scarring of the skin.
First on the list of causes of Rosacea must be its association with indigestion and food allergies and intolerances must be considered. Then comes a list of the usual suspects causing inflammation such as food allergy/intolerance, pathogenic organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungus/Candida and parasites), toxins such as metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury etc), chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, preservatives etc) and not forgetting malabsorption of essential nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals and essential fatty acids of EPA and DHA.
