Back Pain
In two-thirds of patients with back pain, surgery is inappropriate. In fact there is a 50/50 chance that the pain will actually get worse and a 25% chance of serious physical impairment, including paralysis. Before submitting to any treatment, it is important to understand how back pain may start, apart from injury. The spine is composed of vertebrae which slot perfectly provided the tension or, pull and push, of the muscles attached to them is even and balanced. It stands to reason that a pull on one side will result in one or more vertebrae to be displaced to that side. This then presents the spine with an unnatural alignment and back pain is the outcome. What causes this tension in the muscles is their close association with the internal organs. Low back pain for instance is mostly due to a problem with the large intestine: an infection for example. Whatever is done directly for the spine such as manipulation, physiotherapy and so on is only going to help in the very short term since manipulation of the vertebrae will do nothing to balance the tension of the muscles. This will be restored once the problem with the large intestine is addressed. The many causes of imbalance leading to back pain include food allergy/intolerance, pathogenic organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungus/Candida and parasites), toxins such as metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury etc), chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, preservatives etc), radiation (DECT phones, mobiles and masts, air travel etc), drugs such as NSAIDs (ironically the very ones used to tackle back pain) and not forgetting malabsorption of essential nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals and especially fatty acids of EPA and DHA. All of this will release inflammatory chemicals within the body, creating an environment for deterioration of our spine.
Treatment is to address the causative factors and to supply the essential tools for proper healing which include amino acids, vitamins, minerals and especially the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, as well as probiotics, soluble and insoluble fibre from fruits, vegetables and whole grains, not forgetting adequate amounts of water, a regular daily exercise regime and sunlight, when possible.
