AnxietyIf we were to regard emotions and mental or psychological conditions as a see-saw, then anxiety would be found on one end and depression on the other. So when anxiety is the high of the see-saw, depression would be the low and, in a sufferer, these two states would fluctuate all the time there is a problem. All emotions are converted into chemicals in the brain, neurotransmitters - acetylcholine, noradrenalin, serotonin, dopamine, histamine etc, to name a few of the major ones - which travel along nerves and eventually reach all organs, glands and cells resulting in the expression of signs and symptoms. A neutransmitter imbalance in the case of anxiety would result for example, in a quickened heart beat, a dry mouth, shallow breathing, sweating and so on. Neurotransmitter balance may also be affected by food allergy/intolerance, pathogenic organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungus/Candida and parasites), toxins such as metals (aluminium, lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium etc), chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, food additives and preservatives etc), radiation (mobiles and phone masts, DECT phones, background radiation, air travel etc) and not forgetting emotional highs and lows such as grief, fear, despair, etc from the stresses of life. Treatment of anxiety involves removal of the possible causes and ensuring an adequate supply of the major factors in healing and regeneration such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids of omega 3 and 6, the friendly bacteria, probiotics and soluble and insoluble fibre from whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
